Thank you Sponsors, some Business & the next auction meeting

SPONSORS

We would like to thank the sponsors who have already signed up to be a part of the auction. Your generosity is truly appreciated! We love our sponsors, so the more the merrier! The 10% discount ends this Friday, December 16th, but we will continue to accept auction sponsors until March 3, 2017.

VOLUNTEERS

We would like to thank the many people who volunteered to spearhead the procurement spreadsheet, we picked the first one who responded. Thank you, Amy Kim.

Let’s see if that rapid response will happen this week! We are currently looking for a Photo Coordinator, someone who will coordinate our photographers and the classrooms in the winter/early spring. You would create and communicate a schedule amenable to both teachers and photographers, which should take just a few hours of your time. We are also looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who can solicit volunteers and manage the volunteer spreadsheet for the auction activities. Last year’s Sign-up Genius lists all the jobs and is ready for you to use. Additionally, we have other schools who have committed to help, and we can invite high school and college students to help fill our volunteer needs. Much of the work can be done at home. Thank you in advance for considering.

ITEM PROCUREMENT

Please continue your excellent item procurement. Ask businesses you frequent, hotels at which you stay, even if you don’t think the item can stand alone, we can potentially combine your procurement item with another package. Thank you!

WINE

The auction group is still accepting bottles of wine. Grab a bottle when you are shopping or if you don’t have time, think about buying a Scrip card and our elves will do the wine shopping for you! Volunteers will be at morning drop off this Friday, December 16th to collect your wine donations.

NEXT AUCTION MEETING

Our next auction meeting will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 7 pm at Flint Creek. Everyone is welcome! It’s a great place to brainstorm ideas and get to know more St. John folks.

Auction Kick-off with Bunco!

prom1982 Prom 1982

The 2017 St. John auction is many months away, but the planning has begun! If you haven’t already heard, the theme of the auction is 1980’s Prom. You have been warned! You have many months to plan your outfits, complete with poufy sleeves, bows, ruffles and metallic/neon colors!

Please join us on Thursday, October 13th from 7-7:30pm in Egan Hall to talk about the planning process and the myriad of ways to help make the auction a huge success. Following our auction meeting, we invite the whole school community to play Bunco, a fun, no skill required dice game. Bring your friends and meet new ones while playing. If you come to the auction meeting, please bring something to drink and/or eat to share with the group.

We are looking for Auction Procurement Leads and Volunteer Coordinators.

The Auction Procurement Chairs are responsible for coordinating a team of volunteers who will procure donations from local businesses. This responsibility includes dividing the volunteer team into areas/neighborhoods, developing a letter that will be included in the procurement packets that are given to businesses and tracking donations as they come in. Someone with good motivational and organizational skills would excel in this position. Works best as a “chairperson team”. Our procurement chair from last year was extremely organized and will mentor you in this position. You will definitely not be “recreating the Procurement wheel.”

The Volunteer Coordinator will quite literally organize and coordinate the many auction volunteers with the help of the Auction Chair and Admin.

If either of these jobs fit your skill set, please email karegunther@yahoo.com or auction@st-johnschool.org. Please remember, the auction is our biggest fundraiser of the school year. We need our community’s talent, energy and enthusiasm to make the auction successful!

We look forward to seeing you on October 13th to kickoff the auction.
