Thank You

No Na Keiki ‘O St. John (For the Children of St. John)

Hawaiian Fun Fact...
Mahalo nui loa means “thank you very much”

Thank you very much St. John community; collectively you raised a gross amount of over $490,000 for our school! As Bernadette O’Leary said in NewsViews last week….”you did an incredible job of helping us ensure that next year, we can offer a just and fair salary to our teachers. The Auction proceeds are such a huge part of the operating budget, comprising about eight percent of the revenue, revenue that is used to pay those salaries and benefits, purchase instructional programs, keep the lights on, etc.  This year’s Auction grossed $490,346 – almost $100,000 more than 2018.  Fund-a-Need exceeded $148,000 including two large matching gifts totaling $45,000.  Corporate matching has not yet been reported, so this total is expected to increase.  Over $50,000 came in through sponsorship and cash donations which allows us to not only hold the event at Fremont Studios, but to direct more of the evening’s proceeds into the school operating budget.”

Thank you, St. John community, for an incredible Auction year!

Auction Sneak Peek

We have some amazing Auction items this year!  This week’s highlighted items are…

Ballard, Bikes, Burgers & Brews

Leave your car at home and take a spin on your new RadWagon, a powerful electric cargo bike!  The RadWagon is the most affordable, feature-rich, and powerful electric cargo bike on the market and it’s got everything you need to get the job done, and then some.  As part of this amazing Live package, Vice Principal Pablo Kelley will spend an afternoon with you biking around Ballard. You can also enjoy $100 worth of Li’l Woody’s food!

Dinner with Chef Michael with Wine Pairings for Ten

For this wine pairing dinner, Chef Michael Strimban will prepare a delicious five-course meal of locally sourced seafood and your choice of prime cuts along with expertly prepared sides.  Michael and company will select the perfect wines from their estate vineyard for each course.  For this unforgettable event, Julie Clark will host ten people at her North Beach home on a date to be determined by the winning bidder and event hosts.

“Floral Mandala” by Mrs. Mansfield’s 3rd Grade Class

Paper quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create a decorative design.  Mrs. Mansfield’s third graders each had their own color of paper strips that they rolled and were then shaped and put together to create a colorful, floral shaped mandala.  This 22′ x 22″ framed art piece would be a beautiful addition to any home and you will easily be able to identify each child’s individual art using the guide on the back.
